Walk into the silence: from Capovento to Fonterutoli

It is not a dream, you are in the heart of Chianti: welcome to our excursion from Capovento to Fonterutoli.

This is one of our walk into the silence routes: 9 km of countryside to reconnect to the most authentic part of you, learning to listen to the sound of silence. More than a walk, a sort of purification process where physical exertion turns into a means to free your mind. Body and soul follow the rhythm of your breath, that you will manage to listen as ever before. The nature, wild and wonderful, is a sweet treatment for everyday stress and traffic jams of the city.

Starting from Capovento, with comfortable shoes at your feet and true passion for Tuscany in your heart, you will walk along the route to Fonterutoli, picturesque hamlet of Castellina in Chianti along the regional route 222, known as the Chiantigiana. You will also reach Tregole, a small medieval village. Tregole itself represents a magical experience thanks to its dimension and the number of its inhabitants, only 30 people.

Our excursion takes you across scented vineyards, unspoiled woods and green countryside, far from cities and smog. Step by step, every stone, tree trunk and stream will tell you something about the real Chiantishire. Open well your senses, get ready to catch all the sensations of the generous land around you. Breath the smell of resin, the fragrances of the vineyards, the unmistakable scent of wet ground into the woods…pure poetry. Walking in the Tuscan nature, pay attention and open your eyes: you will catch unique glimpses and bucolic sceneries, impossible to describe in words. Siena, the area of Valdelsa, the Chianti hills are all in front of you, offering special moments.

During the route, we suggest you to visit the winery Marchesi Mazzei in Fonterutoli, one of the best place to taste the Chianti Classico wine in the surrounding. Recharge your batteries with a tour around the wine cellar, strolling between barrels and enormous vineyards, enchanted by the stories of the wine producers. According to your program, you can either choose a wine tasting of some bottles or book a complete wine tour.

Before leaving, remember: the route has some roads going uphill and you will cross a stream, with the risk of get wet. It is worth it, that is for sure.
